Yellow Emperor fight against Chi You

 About 4,000 years ago, Yellow Emperor, the most well-known tribe leader, lived along Yellow River and Changjiang River area among the other clans and tribes.

The tribe of Yellow Emperor lived nearby Ji River in northwest of our country, later moved to Zhuolu (present Zhuolu, Huanlai region of Hebei province) and started to develop livestock breeding and farming which resulted in the end of their nomady.

There existed another tribe leader named Yan Emperor who was a  relative of Yellow Emperor lived nearby Jiang River where in the northwest of our country. Yan Emperor´s tribe was decomposed gradually, but Yellow Emperor´s was flourishing.

At that time, there was a clan called Jiuli. Their leader named Chi You who was extremely strong. 81 brothers he had who owned beasts´ bodies could eat rocks and truculent. They were able to make all kinds of weapons like swords,halberd and bows etc. The other clans often had been invaded by Chi You and his clan warriors.

Once, Chi You invaded and occupied some land belonged to Yan Emprior who tried to fight back. But the Yan Emprior could not stand a chance and suffered a crushing defeat. He had no choice but ran to Zhuolu and asked the Yellow Emprior for help. For a long time, the Yellow Emprior had been thinking to get rid of the Jiuli for all clans. Thus, when all the preparation was done, the decisive battle between Chi You and all the other clans under the Yellow Emprior´s command began in Zhuolu.

Both sides used magical powers, but Chi You had the advantage because his troops were armed with forged swords and halberds. Using his power (perhaps a mythological explanation of meteorology used in warfare), Chi You covered the battle field in thick fog. Only with the help of a magical compass chariot could Yellow Emperor´s troops could find their way through the mist. He also used his daughter Nu Ba, the Goddess of Drought, to harm Chi You´s troops. Later on, Chi You suffered more defeats and was captured. Only Ying Long, the winged dragon, being a brave servant of Yellow Emperor, dared to slay him. Chi You´s chains were transformed into acorn trees, while Ying Long was cursed to remain on earth forever.

After Yellow Emperor defeated Chi You, He was accepted as the son of Heaven, that was Emperor Xuanyuan. Emperor Xuanyuan led people to assart farmland and settle in central plain, establishing the foundation of Chinese Nation.
